homer

So my brother has driven up from Birmingham to stay overnight, and we’ll be driving back down to my parents’ tomorrow for Christmas. I’m in my study on the computer, my brother standing behind me, and all of a sudden I hear, “D’oh!” Not my brother’s voice.

“Oh, sorry,” says Chris. “It was my slippers.”

I look down, and he’s wearing slippers with Homer Simpson on, a speech bubble saying ‘D’oh!’ on them. Chris presses the right one with his left foot, and sure enough - “D’oh!” Well, there’s only one thing to do in a situation like that, isn’t there? I hope Chris’s foot doesn’t bruise too badly from the repetition.

one too many

Last night, after catching a repeat episode of How Clean Is Your House?, and coming over [slightly] domestic, I decided to take down the shower curtain in my bathroom, which was getting a bit mildewy at the bottom, and replace it with the spare, identical one I have in my airing cupboard. My tenant turned up whilst I was hanging it and straightening out the creases, and seemed overly surprised to find I had a spare one.

This morning, I woke up after he’d left. He’s catching a plane today to fly back to his home town in Transylvania. He’d left a Christmas present for me, a large package. I unwrapped it to find, amongst other things, a brand new shower curtain, identical to the spare one I’d hung up less than 12 hours beforehand.
My timing is terrible.

narnia

We’ve all heard the theories about how the Chronicles of Narnia is a thinly disguised metaphor for Christianity, but from what I heard on the tram today, some people might be a bit confused over their religions. A load of young schoolkids crowded onto a tram at lunchtime with their teachers. I figured that they’d been to see Narnia at the cinema, as they were all talking about it. One of the teachers said,

“Can you remember what the lion’s name was?”

One of the little girls stuck her hand up in the air.

“I can! It was Islam.”

getting it together

Well, the new site is slowing coming together, thanks to the extremely helpful support, forums and plugins supplied by WordPress and its users. I’ve integrated a photoblog link into the design - you can now see my latest photoblog image from the front page, and see all the other images by clicking on the thumbnail.

new and upcoming

I moved my blog from Blogger to Wordpress yesterday, and lost the old design in the process, Wordpress being extremely heavy with PHP - something I’m not familiar with at all. This design is a slightly altered version of one of the many available themes in Wordpress, and I’m likely to play around with it and may possibly change it all together.
