About
Who are you?
I’m Elaine. I was born on 4th September 1975, near Birmingham, UK. My parents are Brian and Julia, and I’m the oldest of six children. I was brought up in the Midlands and lived in South Wales for 7 years during and post-university. I live in South Yorkshire now, and work at a university.
I do grown up things like work, own a house, and pay bills. I try not to think about grown up things like having kids. I am happily single, and own the stereotypical cat.
What is this?
This is my current website. I’ve had quite a few since I learned about this internet thing. My very first web page created back in 1994 or so had a star field background with yellow text and animated gifs. I truly and humbly apologise. The page has, thankfully, been dead and buried for almost 10 years. Back in March 2001, I created a site entitled Little Blue Fox. I’d learnt a thing or two about tasteful web design by then, and it looked considerably better than its predecessor. I jumped on the blogging bandwagon and started my weblog on 15 March. By March 2004 the updates had slowed to about one per month, so I laid the site to rest. The domain is now a generic search site.
I created neuroticcamel.com in May 2004. I’ve been sporadically blogging on it since then, and in October 2005 I started a photoblog at this domain. I link to the photos from the front page. I update the photoblog considerably more often than the words. My Dad, who blogs himself, will occasionally nag me to write more often.
Neurotic Camel is an anagram of my name. I like anagrams. Other choices were Ecumenical Rot, A Necrotic Mule, Comical Tenure and No Cute Miracle.
How did you do this?
The site is hosted by the nice people at 34sp.com, and the weblog and template is powered by WordPress. The photoblog was created with PixelPost. All graphics, photos and words are © me, unless stated otherwise.
